Automating Web Site Evaluation

Tools

Several tools have been developed to support automated assessment of English Web sites. The following 2-step process should be followed for Web site assessment.

1. Use the Site Crawler Tool to download pages from sites and store pages on your Web server. This tool creates an input file for use with the Analysis Tool.

2. Use the Analysis Tool to compute 157 quantitative page- and site-level metrics and to compare pages/sites to profiles of highly-rated pages/sites. This tool can be rerun after making changes to pages.

Currently, the Analysis Tool only analyzes English pages and is not interactive. Other tools are being developed to support interactive assessment as well as exploration of metrics data.
